CBSE Cluster – U-19 Basketball Tournament 2016: AVM fights till the end

The cluster basketball team of Atmiya Vidya Mandir left the school grounds with pure grit, strong nerves and enormous reserves of enthusiasm. The tournament was scheduled for 3 days from 22nd to 25th October 2016. The journey to Baroda seemed quite long but finally, the team reached the reporting venue, i.e. Gujarat Public School (GPS). After reporting, the team straightaway went to Haridham temple, Sokhada.

The following day, after a delectable breakfast at Haridham, the team reported on the grounds. After waiting patiently for a couple of hours, the team got their first match as a Bye and then played their second match against Doon Public School, Bhuj. The match was a pretty one-sided game and the AVM team clinched victory with 37-1 as final score. As the quarter-final was scheduled on 24th October, after some celebration, it was time to go back to Haridham, for lunch and rest.

So, the next day on 24th October, the team reported to the grounds for their quarter-final match to play against Navrachana School, Baroda. The beginning was a good one for the team but soon the opponents took charge. The AVM team lost the match and the final score was 37-24. The team fought hard but lost.

Formidable opponents helped learn some important lessons of the sport and for life.

CBSE Cluster – U-19 Football Tournament 2016-17: The game spirit and a lesson learnt!

Atmiya Vidya Mandir is not only known for its stellar performance in academics but it has also created a reputed name in the sport of football. It was on the day of 22nd October, when our school football team participated in the CBSE Cluster – U-19 Football Tournament in Baroda under the guidance of the coaches, Tejas Sir and Rushy Sir. Our football team reached Urmi School, Baroda to attend the opening ceremony of tournament. In all, 22 teams participated in the tournament. As a matter of great fortune, our football team stayed in Haridham overnight and gained blessings from saints. Our first match was against Jay Ambe School. The training hard work, and dedication was quite evident in the game as we snatched victory out of the open jaws of defeat, the score being 3-0. The next match was played against Cygnus, which was another comfortable win as the scoreboard tallied 4-0. By this time the AVM football team had already reached quarter finals and they were up against DPS Surat. But then came the time when all the endeavours and dedication put by the team were tested to the core. It was tough luck as our aspirations were flooded by gloominess and had to face a 4-0 defeat. With a heavy heart we reversed our way back to AVM, but this wasn’t the end of it, as we all vowed to come better and harder the next time.
