At Atmiya Vidya Mandir, students are being shaped and nurtured in such a way that they will become an asset to society and our country. Hence all the national festivals play a pivotal role in infusing patriotism and a sense of belongingness in the hearts of these students at AVM. Owing to this purpose, this year too, the 77th Independence Day was celebrated with much fervour and enthusiasm. Besides the flag hoisting ceremony and traditional proceedings of the joyful celebration of this special day, AVM’s Arts Department organised a Poster Making Competition to tap into the creativity of the students and enhance the celebration of this special day.

The entire campus wore a festive look with the added charm of colourful posters being prepared by all students at different venues within the campus. All of the students of the school, ranging from class 1 to class 12, participated in this magnificent event. The younger brothers of grades 1 to 6 were grouped in Param Hostel’s prayer hall where hostel staff members and teachers helped them in preparing their posters.

On the other side, the participants of grades 7, 8, 9, and 10 were busy with their creativity in the main assembly hall. Moreover, the senior students of classes 11 and 12 were seen preparing their pieces of art with various colours and shades at a different venue.

All the teachers and mentors assisted and encouraged these budding artists to manifest their creativity and art. Right before the event, Vipul Sir, the school’s Art and Craft teacher instructed and guided the students about the rules and procedures of the event and provided a reference artwork in order to give the participants a basic idea. While the participants were indulged in designing the posters, Krutarth Sir aroused more and more vigour in them by playing patriotic songs in the background. After fifteen minutes of extra time, each team was called one-by-one, on the stage, for a group photograph. The principal of the school Vijay Sir personally checked and appreciated efforts of the students. At last, the results of the competition were announced by Vipul Sir.

Thus, this colourful small event helped in instilling many skills like teamwork, colour-shading, time-management and above all the spirit of ‘We Are One’ among the students. Later, students were seen flaunting their creative pieces with much enthusiasm and pride as ‘Proud Indians’.
