Basketball has always been a sport of strength for our school. On the exciting day of 29th July 2016, our Under-14 Basketball team participated in the District level Tournament, hosted by Vasistha Genesis School, Bardoli.
The rain gods showed their mercy as there was no rain and the sun shone brightly in the horizon.
After spending a difficult time of nervousness and excitement, finally, we were called to play our first match against Tapti Valley International School. Luckily, we won by a comfortable stretch, with the final score showing 12-2. The victory qualified us for the quarter finals.
The quarter final was against Fountainhead School. We entered the playground with our fingers crossed and high hopes of winning. The first half was pretty tough but in the second half, victory shook our hands and we won the match with 10-6 as the final score. We qualified for the semi-finals.
The semi-final was held against Essar International School. Just one match’s victory away from being qualified for the finals, nervous and excited, we stepped into the court and stepped out as the winners with a final score of 12-0. We just needed one more win to be titled the Champions.
Finally, the most anticipated game arrived which was against Shree Vasishtha Vidhyalaya, Vav. We played with sportsmanship and gave our heart and soul in the match but this time, victory was not in our favour. We lost by a margin of 4 points and the final score was 10-6. It was a great run after all! It was the birthday of our team captain and we celebrated the three victories with a delicious dinner before returning back to school.
It was a proud moment for our team as four of our players including Jay Bhai (7th A), Harshil Bhai (8th A), Tirth Bhai (8th A) and Darshan Bhai (8th B) were selected for the State level contests. Indeed, it was a proud moment for the school as well as the players.
