On 19th of August, our school participated in the District Level Inter School Handball Tournament organized by Madhi Government School, Bardoli. Our school handball team made their mark with a string of good performances to reach up to the semi-final round.
Our first match was against P. P. Savani School team in which our team won the match convincingly with a score of 7-2. Our Quarter Final match was against the home team of Madhi Government School. Again, we started the match brightly and played very well. We steamrolled the match with a score of 11-3 and made our way to the Semi-Final.
The Semi-Final match was against the defending champion team, Satrawala Uma Vidyapith, Valthan. With some really good performances in the last two rounds, our team was confident of good showing. The first half of the match was evenly matched as the score line was equal at the end of the first half. In the second half, the champions began confidently as tired legs seemed to affect our performance. In the end, the champions of the previous year played slightly better than us to clinch the tie with a score of 11-8 and reached the finals.
But the AVM Handball Team did make their mark with a good showing overall. Three students from our team got selected in the District Team to play in the State Level Competition later this year: Rahulbhai Patel, Rajveerbhai Parmar and Mantavyabhai Ambaliya (all from class 10).
Congratulations to our coach Kalpesh Sir for working very hard and preparing a good handball team. Also congratulations to the team and the players selected for the state level competition.
