All About Making Right Choices: Sundaram House

Dictionary defines human senses as physiological capacities of organisms that provide inputs for perception by which the body receive and feel the faculties of hearing, sight, smell, touch, taste’ but students of Atmiya Vidya Mandir know a broader meaning of cognitive senses, a broader and better understanding about how positive perception through these senses play a foreseeable role in accelerating their pace towards their goal.

In the third week of November, Sundaram House, was given the task to explore and inform about positive attitude, right choice and judicious use of five senses , the ultimate inspirational source was our holy scripture Vachnamrut (Part1:Ch.16 & 18)

During the daily assembly many hidden benefits of positive attitude and right choice have been uncovered by the members of Sundaram House. On Monday, Mahapuja was organized to celebrate Consecration ceremony of the temple. Entire AVM Family gathered in the temple to witness the rituals, the students of Std 12th performed the puja as Saints chanted the appropriate Vedic hymns and verses. The chanting and prayers reverberated around the dome, charging the atmosphere with divinity. On Tuesday after a brief introduction about the Value of the week: Vachnamrut Part 1 Ch 16 & 18, Saumya Mam explained the students about the innumerable advantages of positive attitude. On Wednesday, Priyavadan Sir explained these values with historical examples and he also counted the benefits of living a religious and righteous life. Thursday morning, it was astounding experiment performed and explained by Purvesh Sir and Priyavadan Sir on how does bad influence diminish our potential and how much positive input do we need to refine the polluted mind and soul. On Friday, Tanmay Patel and Vishwajeet of IX A explained the power of positive attitude through a power point presentation.

The Creative assembly of Sundaram House on Saturday was a phenomenal presentation of the Vachnamrut: P16 & P18 as the core value to lead an ever happy and ever successful life. The presenters of the show Anand K and Shubham B explained a multi-dimensional view point about Vachnamrut P16 & P18. They acknowledged the students about various scientific experiments done to prove the power of positive words and their great impact. A big screen was erected as the backdrop which supported their explanations through visuals. They very well explained the spiritual, scientific and moral perspectives of these values (P16 & P18) to the students.

A big model was placed on the other side of the stage; this model was a big wheel with three important circles in it. The inner most circle represented the core value as Vachnamrut P16 & P18 whereas the outer circle showed the various factors creating an environment needed to practice and imbibe these values and the outermost circle of this wheel revealed the positive outcome of living with these values. As a part of the presentation about having faith in the divine words of a saint, a small skit was presented by the students of Std X and XI. The students, teachers, house masters and Didis had witnessed unadulterated fun and learning. The vivacious presentation by Anand and Shubham of XI Comm. had bowled them over. A palpable feeling of contentment and elation gripped them as they witness this assembly. Thus, this Creative assembly was concluded with a dance and a small prayer by the students of Std IV to VI onto to the lotus feet of Swami Shree asking for the strength to remain ever positive with all our senses.

As a follow up , what they were explained to do was to keep faith and positivity while leaping over the hurdles in front of them like distractions, fear, doubt, hurts, and sin—creating a shield for the senses and not giving up when they felt overwhelmed, stressed, or exhausted. In this manner, Sundaram House made sincere efforts to elucidate P16 & P18 so that students can develop immunity against all negative influences.

Diwali Card making Activity

A Diwali Card making activity was conducted by Manish Sir with the help of house masters, didis other teachers before the onset of the Diwali vacation and students from Std 1 to 10 took part in it.
Below are a selected few of the students’ creations:

We Are For Children.. (’s Day)

Naive and curious, motivated to learn

Heaven sent, God’s little miracles!………the children of Atmiya Vidya Mandir!!!!!!!!

Childhood means Fun unlimited… Bounteous shower… of love and care… Realm of imagination… Joy of growing up… Children’s Day! ` There are only two lasting gift we should give to our children, One is roots and second is wings… Atmiya Vidya Mandir makes all these moments of innocent wonders of enjoying as if there is no other life beyond this joy of being children. Celebrating such a valuable childhood, on Children’s Day (14th November)AVM teachers have taken to a new job – that of swirling, dancing and replicating their actions to express their feelings and check listing the many activities they can perform to entertain their students. Sounds like a birth of a new circus? Well, this sure seems to be the beginning.

The Children’s Day celebration event started with lighting of the lamp and pujan of Thakorji by little wonders of Std 1st in New Prayer Hall during morning assembly. The male teachers performed dances and skits to the obvious delight of their students, who clapped, danced, sang, cheered, and squealed with excitement. A couple of little boys even waved their hands while they found their favourite teachers performing on the stage for them.

This UV act of male teachers was one of the most magical acts, weaving its spell through a multitude of props and visual tricks. Fun centric, this act could convey almost anything in the most unique and entertaining ways with a comic twist. The skit had the entire audience rolling with laughter. ………..donned as Writer, producer, Director, Singer, Composer with the names Chappu Chingari and Pappu Pichkari and what not……….. Laughter of children echoed through the ceiling of the Prayer Hall.

The emcees of the event Prajval Sir and Tarun Sir carried the show through creating the right spirit and atmosphere for a ceremony that would be etched in the memory of the students for a long time to come. They had been a part of the show throughout, be it their alluring announcements or their witty comments on the performers, they were the ones who kept the children with a dent of eagerness.

Next the female teachers took the stage by storm with dancing on a very touching and appealing song ‘Hum hai rahi pyar ke…’. This dance performance was a pleasurable package of enthusiasm, with an emotional sprint and enjoyment for the students.

It was such a lovely event for the children. Seeing all their teachers up there on the stage, dressed in costumes and performing silly dance routines, it’s just such a nice gesture: one day of the year where the teachers put on a show they’ve obviously worked hard at, for the entertainment of their pupils.

Treating each child as a unique twinkle of the future horizon, on children’s day their entry in the classroom was not just the part of routine; the teachers made them feel so special by offering them the pujan, with shower of flower and chocolate as token of love as they entered into the class.

The evening was no less entertaining as a fanfare was organized for the children. Variety of mouthwatering dishes with irresistible aroma made a perfect closure of the celebration. Though it is an inevitable and implicit fact that children of Atmiya Vidya Mandir are the soul and heart of the school, yet such celebrations are to experience that it’s their school, with their teachers, their happiness and above all each day is their day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY CHILDHOOD,

HAPPY CHILDREN’S DAY

Sports at AVM – 2011

The importance of
sports in the life of a young student is invaluable as it instils essential life
lessons. Sports play a crucial role in the character building of a young
athlete, especially from the secondary school to high school years where
student athletes are much more mature and mentally developed. It offers the
chance to the young, impressionable youth to learn values like discipline,
responsibility, self confidence, sacrifice, and accountability. Television,
which may be the most influential tool in the lives of young adults, does not
show enough of these qualities, nor is it on the Internet, or radio. Rather it
is up to the parents, teachers and sports teams to help mould, develop, and instil
these qualities into the lives of student athletes.
In order for this
to happen, there is a need for good coaches that understand the great
responsibility that is placed upon their shoulders to help shape and prepare
these student athletes not only in sports, but in their everyday lives. At
Atmiya Vidya Mandir, we are proud to have a team of 10 such sports coaches who
are highly dedicated and focussed in helping the young athletes and sportsmen
to succeed in their chosen sport.
The Sports
