Chess teaches us mindfulness and it needs a lot of patience and concentration. After some practice sessions and some regular playing sessions, our school participated in the Under 19 District level Chess Competition 2017 that was held at S. D. Jain International School, Palsana.

The following students represented Atmiya Vidya Mandir: Nirmanbhai Jaiswal (Std 8), Mananbhai Patel (Std 8) and Madhurajbhai Modi (Std 10). It was a proud moment watching our players of grades 8 and 10 compete against opponent players from grades 11 and 12.

Madhurajbhai lost in the first round but Mananbhai and Nirmanbhai made their way to the second round by defeating their opponents.

Nirmanbhai then gave a tough fight to the national player from J. B. Diamonds & KARP Impex School but lost against him in the second round. Mananbhai entered the third round defeating another player from J. B. Diamonds & KARP Impex School.

It was a gratifying moment watching Mananbhai compete in the third round, despite that fact that he lost in that round.

Our school coach, Hemant Sir was happy to see our much younger team players compete with state and national players. This District level Chess Competition turned out to be fascinating experience for our team although we could not reach finals.
