The most popular sports across our country and also at AVM is Cricket. Students eagerly await this sports carnival throughout the year. A lush green outfield, specially made pitch, properly marked ground, the sound of bat hitting the ball and loud cheers of spectators are some of the things which make this annual event very unique and bring the best out of everyone.

But this summer was even more special as it was not only the students that took part in this tournament but also the teachers participated with renewed enthusiasm!

The students were distributed into three groups:

  1. Bhoolku Premier League: Std 4, 5 & 6
  2. Yogi Premier League: Std 7 & 8
  3. Atmiya Premier League: Std 9, 10 & 11

Such a tournament provides opportunity to bring newer talents into the lime light. Many new players got the opportunity to play and showcase their skills during this fun fortnight. Each and every team strived and worked hard to reach the finals. But it was only the best two teams in each group that could make their way there!

In Bhoolku Premier League, the final was played between Vivek 11 and Chintan 11. Chintan 11 won the match very comprehensively by seven wickets and won the coveted trophy. The best bowler title was grabbed by Niramaybhai Mehta with a total of 6 wickets in 4 matches. The best batsman title was received by Greemybhai Shura who scored 45 runs in 4 matches.

In the next group, Yogi Premier League, the final was played between Samarpit 11 and Chintan 11. Once again, the Chintan 11 thrashed the opposition and won the finals by 10 wickets. The best bowler was Jagratbhai S. Patel, taking 7 wickets in 4 matches. The best batsman title was received by Ojashbhai Patel scoring 145 runs in 4 matches.

In the Atmiya Premier League, the senior group, the final was played between Samarpit 11 and Chintan 11. No prize for guessing as to which team won the finals! Yes, it had to be a hat trick of wins for coaches Tejas Sir and Vijaybhai as Chintan 11 marched to victory with a margin of 7 wickets. Rahulbhai Patel won the best batsman award with an impressive tally of 119 runs in 4 matches. The best bowler was Utsavbhai patel as he picked up 6 wickets in 3 matches.

It was such a memorable event for all of us involved. A special mention of the efforts of all the sports teachers for working so hard to stage such a remarkable event!

Thank you teachers!
