“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”

The 11th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm at AVM on the morning of 21st June. Students, mentors, and teachers all took part in the celebration by practicing various yogasans together.

Yoga is a priceless gift from India’s ancient tradition. It connects our body, mind, and soul. It includes Pranayams to steady our breath, Asans to strengthen the body, and Meditation to calm the mind. Yoga helps us bring harmony to our thoughts and actions.

The yoga session for the younger students was held in the junior hostel activity hall and for the senior students in the prayer hall. It began around 7:00 am and lasted for about 45 minutes. All the students performed yoga under the guidance of our respected Ritesh Sir. Each senior student had brought their own yoga mat from home to help build the habit of practicing yoga regularly.

The session started with Surya Namaskar, which is a sequence of 12 important asans. It is a powerful routine to stay fit, focused, and relaxed. After that, students performed Anulom Vilom, Paschimottanasan, Vrikshasan, and Setu Bandhasan. They were also informed about the health benefits of each of these asans.

The environment in the prayer hall was filled with peace, calmness, and purity. After the session, the students felt fresh, energetic, and relaxed from academic stress.

Everyone agreed to continue practicing yoga every Friday. This marked the beginning of a healthy habit to bring more clarity and calmness into our bodies, minds, and lives.

Practicing yoga daily helps us live better, think better, and be better.

Stay healthy and be happy!
