Football is a sport that requires teamwork, skill, and fitness, making it fascinating for both players and enthusiasts alike. In the academic year 2024-25, the Central Board of Secondary Education conducted the Cluster Football Tournament at Bhagwati International Public School (BIPS), Patan. This event took place from September 1 to September 4, 2024. Four football pitches were set up for three age group categories: U-14, U-17, and U-19. The U-14 category featured 16 teams, while the U-17 category had 21 teams competing for victory. A total of 16 teams participated in the U-19 category, all vying for the top position in Gujarat.
The competition commenced with a grand opening ceremony that included a walk past by all teams, the lighting of the torch by the team captains, a classical dance performance, a thrilling song, and a heartfelt prayer. This was followed by speeches from the chief guests.
On September 2, 2024, the U-14 AVM team won their first match against MKGS with an impressive score of 3-0. Continuing the winning streak, the U-17 AVM team secured a stunning victory against Mount Litera Zee School with a score of 8-0. However, the following day, heavy rainfall affected all teams’ gameplay. Despite these challenges, the U-17 AVM team fought hard but could not avoid a narrow and disheartening defeat against Sant Kabir School, with a score of 0-2. The U-14 AVM team also lost to Adalaj by the narrowest of margins, with a score of 0-1.
It was heartening to see that both teams played with the spirit of “We are ONE!” Both teams embraced this experience and learned a great deal in the process. Their determination to stick together in the face of adversity and their refusal to give up were the real highlights of the competition. All the students are thankful to the coaching staff and management for such a wonderful and enriching experience
