The world is a huge place, with many new challenges as well as rewards, and with turning paths that may lead to success or failure. It all depends on the traveller’s choice.
And to aid this choice, every year, here at Atmiya Vidya Mandir, we hold an enlightening farewell function, namely Udaan – soaring new heights. This year, the hall was grandly decorated with an ocean’s tapestry along the sides of the temple prayer hall. Sailing on boats were the graduated 12th graders, with pirates and icebergs hindering their progress. All these boats were sailing for a common goal, guided by a compass, towards His Divine Holiness Hariprasad Swamiji and GuruHari Prabodhswamiji, our spiritual guides and the lifelines of our school. This was rightly depicted by an oscillating lighthouse.
On the main stage was the flashing LED, and two banners showing ships leaving the school shore and journeying for the lighthouse at the other shore.
On the 20th of April, 2025, new alumni and their parents were warmly welcomed by the new 12th graders into the cool hall with calming music in the background. After collecting their tickets and gifts, they were briefed through the exhibition and guided to their respective seats. At 5:00 pm, the program started with a thundering applause at the stunning introductory video. This was followed by an equally hearty welcome by hosts Abhaybhai (12 Sci.) and Devbhai (12 Com.). After the poojan of Shri Thakorji which sanctified the event, bouquets were given to the guests. Next in the event came the preparation video, showcasing the relentless efforts put in by the former 12th graders during the board exam preparation, which included waking up at 3:00 am for 4 months, 13 hours of study and 2 hours of bhajan every day, and the 3533 papers written in all. The reason they could manage this mammoth task, as revealed by the hosts, was the care and dedication of the teachers, the love bestowed by our Divine Mother Suhrad Swamiji and the magnanimous blessings by H.D.H. Hariprasad Swamiji. As a testimony to these three factors, the video depicting Swamishree’s exceptional grace was witnessed by all on the LED.
Right after that, came Romitbhai Gautam’s singing performance which consisted of a beautiful symphony named ‘कुछ पर्बत हिलाएं, तो बात है ।’ (You can move mountains). It was received with great appreciation and applause.
This was trailed by the discussion between the hosts of the various problems faced at home when we try to study. They talked of social media, gadgets, bad company and other factors which depreciated our concentration and focus. As a solution, Kavibhai, an alumnus from the class of 2024, provided some great advice through a video. In that, he touched upon various solutions such as keeping in mind the blessings of Swamishree, company of saints, and keeping clarity of our goals.
Then, two new hosts, Kushalbhai (12 Com.) and Vijaybhai (12 Sci.), joined the event. They introduced everyone to the AVM alumni portal, which gave the new alumni an access to many such other insightful and helpful alumni like Kavibhai. As an equally useful route, they also highlighted the SOS flare we could use in sea, i.e., the Recipe of Success given by Swamishree which was:
- Earnest Prayer & Genuine Association with Saints
- Company of Good Friends
- Sincere Hard Work & Lifelong Seva of parents
After that, the hosts evoked the feeling of nostalgia among the Alumni brothers. They reminded them of the delicious food at AVM, beautiful playgrounds, festivals, anand divas, and much much more! And to make this process even more vigorous, they were taken down their memory lane through a video.
Afterwards, Bhoolku Aryanbhai, on behalf of the graduating batch, conveyed a heartfelt message thanking Swamishree and the school for what they had done for them.
This was followed by the idea of divine light in the form of the lighthouse, which guides us and shows us our path. All this symbolised the blessings of GuruHari Prabodh Swamiji in the form of His paravani, which was played as a video in front of the newly graduating batch.
Finally, the event came to a grand end with a truly enlightening address of our bhoolku leader, dearest Vijay Sir, to our alumni brothers which will guide them for the rest of their lives.
