On 19th and 20th of June 2024, students of std. 11 & 12 Commerce and 11 & 12 Science from Atmiya Vidya Mandir embarked on an educational journey to Adani Hazira Port & Adani Wilmar Facilities, marking a significant opportunity for practical learning in industrial operations and logistics. The journey began with a joyful two-hour bus ride from the school, setting a positive tone for the day ahead.
Upon arrival at Adani Port (Hazira), students were warmly greeted and ushered into a conference room where we received a comprehensive overview of the port’s layout and operational infrastructure. The students learned about the port’s capabilities in handling various types of cargo, including coal, grains, and other commodities. The presentation highlighted the advanced machinery such as cranes with lifters, bucket lifters, and stacker vehicles manufactured by a company named Liebherr. Seeing huge containers loaded on giant ships, impressed upon the students the scale and efficiency of modern logistics operations.
Following the informative session, the children enjoyed a well-deserved lunch hosted by Adani Ports, providing them with an opportunity to interact with industry professionals. This intimate setting allowed students to discuss their curiosities and deepen their understanding of the complexities involved in port operations.
The guided tour of Adani Ports (Hazira) was a highlight of the visit, where we observed gigantic ships being loaded and unloaded simultaneously. This first-hand experience provided a tangible understanding of the logistical coordination and technological advancements required to manage such operations efficiently on a global scale.
The visit also included a stop at Adani Wilmar, where students learned about the edible oil refining process followed by witnessing the automatic packaging operations. We grasped a comprehensive understanding of the meticulous steps involved in refining and packaging edible oils, gaining insights into food processing standards and quality control measures. The experience was enriched further as students received gift hampers, adding a memorable touch to their educational journey.
Overall, the visit to Adani Ports (Hazira) and Adani Wilmar proved to be highly educational and enriching for their knowledge. It broadened their understanding of industrial operations, logistics management, and food processing. The hands-on experience complemented their classroom learning, providing valuable insights into the practical applications of theoretical knowledge. This visit not only inspired students to consider future careers in related fields but also left a lasting impression of the importance of industry-academic collaborations in fostering productive learning experiences.
