In the contemporary world, when youngsters are attracted towards gymnasiums to be fit and healthy, it would be unfair to forget that Yoga is also a wonderful gift to mankind, to build up and maintain physical health. It is a science which deals with health and harmony of body.

On the fresh and energetic morning of 21st June 2018, our school celebrated the “International Day of Yoga” enthusiastically. Students of grades 7 to 9 actively participated in this event with great fervour. Hemant Sir, along with the help of other sports teachers made very apt arrangements so that the students could perform Yoga comfortably.

The event began with the students performing Surya Namaskar followed by a few pranayams like anulom-vilom and kapalbhati.  Next were the yogic exercises. The students were guided by live instructions and by videos on how to correctly perform the exercises. Various asanas were performed, like tadasan, trikonasan, gomukhasan, pawanmuktasan and ustrasan. The students were also explained the benefits of each yogic exercise.

By the end of the event, students were well versed with the techniques of yoga and their benefits.
