‘Interpersonal intelligence’ is the ability to understand and interact effectively with others. This is one of the eight Theories of “Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory.” At Atmiya Vidya Mandir competitions are organised based on Howard Gardner’s theory. In the same sequence “Interpersonal Intelligence Competition” was conducted on 28th November 2015. To effectively manage and in order to have a smooth going competition for classes 1 to 10, students were grouped in following way:

Groups Classes Venue
Group 1 1 Junior Prayer Hall
Group 2‎ 2, 3 1st Cluster
Group 3‎ 4, 5, 6 Auditorium
Group 4‎ 7, 8 Math Lab
Group 5‎ 9, 10 S.S. Lab

Grade one participated for the competition ‘Raising the Stick’. Being the smallest group of Atmiya Vidya Mandir, they were not grouped with another class.

Grade second enjoyed their competition to balloon bops. It is a very good activity to encourage teamwork among children. Children loved this game at the same time they had to work hard in order to achieve mark and score well.

Grades fourth, fifth and sixth students participated in Dumb Charades which is also another great exercise to improve efficiency of working with groups.

Grades 7th and 8th participated in Balloon Race and Poem Writing competition. Participants had to write a poem together, and not alone. The whole activity turned out to be very interesting for the participants and for the spectators.

The eldest group of this competition was the group of grades ninth and tenth. They performed the activity of writing a poem. Again, there were four members per group who had to write a poem together.

Thus, all the competitions held at different places revolved around the concept of Interpersonal Intelligence. All the activities were both enlightening and entertaining, but they were also tough for the students to get good marks for their houses. It was also a difficult time for judges to decide the winner group. In some competitions students were very close to each other in the marks secured. Thus, it was really difficult to score and assign the points for students and declaring the winner houses from different groups. However, since it was a competition, the judges did decide for a single winner, but they were equally impressed by the performances of all the students in various categories.

The overall result is summarized below:

S.N. Grade Winner House
1 1st Suhradam House
2 2nd and 3rd Suhradam House
3 4th ,5th and 6th Sundaram House
4 7th and 8th Suhradam House
5 9th and 10th Satyam and Sundaram House
