The gathering of pride filled hearts with quite an air of patriotism marked the celebrations of the 70th Republic Day at Atmiya Vidya Mandir. The day had its own charm and was augmented by the arrival of our honourable chief guests Pujya Guruprasadswamiji, Pujya Vandanswamiji, Shri Parindu Bhagat (fondly known as Kakuji), Dr. Vijay Patel, Natuda and Arjun Mama. The guests performed Thakorji’s poojan and hence began the celebration. Flag hoisting was then done by Kakuji, a chemical engineer and a lawyer by profession, who has an extensive list of associations with numerous organisations, whole-heartedly devoted to the cause of welfare of the society.

Thereafter, on the command of our Sports Incharge Ritesh Sir, everyone present spiritedly sang the Jhanda Geet and our National Song, Vande Mataram, with their complete being filled with pride. Moreover, to pay respect to our beautiful tricoloured National Flag, students of grades 8 & 9 performed a march-past offering salutes to the Flag on their way. Students of classes 6 & 7 showcased different forms of pyramids representing unity, which instilled the feeling of oneness amongst all. Then there were a series of inspiring speeches by Kakuji, Guruprasadswamiji and Vijay Sir that enlightened us about various aspects of service to our country. The take away messages from the speeches were sincere hard work, leading an ideal patriotic life and to have a positive influence over others.

The students then enthusiastically welcomed the announcement of the year-end prize distribution ceremony. Many students who represented our school in different competitions along with all those who had succeeded in our school events were awarded with medals, certificates and trophies in their respective field of sports by the chief guests. The results of annual inter house competitions were as follows:

  • Best Academic House of the Year: Suhradam House
  • Best Sports House of the Year: Shivam House
  • Best March Past: Suhradam House

But at the end, victory went to those who were ‘born to prosper’, the Shivam House team.

  • Best House of the Year: Shivam House

Then our Vice Head Boy, Harshilbhai, brought an official end to this momentous journey of the academic year 2018-19 by highlighting all the major and notable events throughout the year. The event then came to an end when all rose and paid respect to Mother India and the brave souls protecting her sovereignty and integrity, by singing the National Anthem.

The ceremony of the 70th Republic Day ended with the Sports Incharge’s command and students dispersed with resolution of being loyal and respectful and to serve the country in any and every way possible. The day then later witnessed a highly spirited Art Competition with hues of Nationalism.
