We had a very inspiring session with Purvabhai Patel, one of our Class of 2013 alumni, who is currently a robotics coach and teacher in New Jersey, USA. He had completed his undergraduate studies in Mechatronics from SRM University and then pursued his MS in Mechatronics Robotics and Automation Engineering from New York University.

The session was specially organized for students of the Physical Computing Club and for those enrolled in the “Introduction to Electronic Systems” course under the IIT Madras School Connect Program. He began the interaction by introducing us to the basics of robotics and explained why it is very important to first clear our fundamental concepts. Without a strong foundation, he said, it is difficult to progress in this fast-growing field.

He also shared his knowledge about different types of robots and their applications in real life. He explained how every concept we learn becomes more interesting and useful when we connect it to real-world situations. This approach not only makes learning enjoyable but also helps us understand the purpose behind what we study.

Overall, the session proved to be a truly motivating and insightful experience, leaving us with valuable lessons on fundamentals, real-world applications, and inspiration to explore robotics with greater curiosity.
