In Hindu religion, a Guru is given the highest position in one’s life. He is considered equal to all gods. And as the shlok says, he is even compared to the Parabrahm, the ultimate source of life. This is because without a Guru in an individual’s life, one remains lost in the dark pit of Maya i.e. the trap of materialistic distractions. A Guru shows the right path and lights up the journey of life. Meeting a God-realised saint is considered equal to meeting God, because such a Guru guides us directly towards the Supreme.
Maharshi Ved Vyasji, one of the greatest sages in history, was born on Purnima of the Hindu month Ashadh. In his memory, Guru Purnima is celebrated across the country on this day.
At Atmiya Vidya Mandir, the bhoolkus expressed their gratitude by making personal commitments as their ગુરુદક્ષિણા. This year’s theme, prepared by Grade 10 students, was based on rockets with the inspiring motto:
“ગુરુનું વચન અને ગુરુની આજ્ઞા હોઈ નિશાને, તો જીવન રોકેટ પહોંચે સિદ્ધિને આકાશે!”
Symbolically, the promises of students were represented as rockets that would soar towards the sky of success, powered by the blessings of their Gurus.
Following tradition, a special સભા was organised in the presence of saints. Pujya Bhaktipriya Swamiji and Pujya Harichintan Swamiji had graced the occasion to bless and enlighten the students this year.
The programme began with the divine entry of the saints, which added to the already divine environment of the temple. As a mark of respect and gratitude, our dearest saints were garlanded by our dedicated housemasters. Soon after, the junior bhoolkus offered a soulful bhajan — “गुरु मेरी पूजा …” sung with deep feeling.
The host of the event, Gautam Sir, then gave a short introduction to the ceremony, after which the saints were requested to enlighten the students by their divine words of wisdom.
Pujya Hari Chintan Swamiji explained the importance of using time wisely, with his clear message: “Time waste નહીં, Time invest કરવો છે.”
Pujya Bhaktipriya Swamiji inspired everyone by highlighting the values a student should cultivate, and how to live them through the spirit of atmiyata.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt maha aarti, and each student received poojan from the saints. Though the event came to an end, the values and guidance shared on this sacred day will continue to guide our lives.
