In the contemporary world, it is of great importance that democratic ideals are discussed with the youth and practiced such that the students gain some understanding of their vital importance to a country’s wellbeing and development. This commandment is enthusiastically embodied by Atmiya Vidya Mandir whose democratically inspired Students Council strives with sincere dedication and loyalty to execute their duties. Every year, in accordance with the principle of egalitarianism, an election campaign precedes a highly efficiently executed election.

This year, the campaign began on 12th of June 2019. For a week, the various candidates standing for various posts shared their views and appealed for support. Flagged off by the speeches of the 2 Head Boy nominees on the first day, followed by those for Vice Head Boy, for Sports Captain, the four House Captains and Vice Captains, all delivered their addresses day after day trying to convince the audience of their capabilities and their worth. The electorate had to then decide for themselves who the most appropriate and capable candidates were.

19th of June 2019 was the election day, when, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, the students of standards 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th voted in specially created voting booths using customised voting software for AVM. Following which, they also had their index fingers marked in accordance with real-life election practice. Results were declared on the morning of 20th June 2019. It turned out that there had been extremely close calls in two of the eleven available posts! Harshilbhai Patel of 11th Science had won the post of Head Boy, the positions of Vice Head Boy and Sports Captain, respectively, were bestowed upon Devbhai Bandhiya and Shrimedbhai Sangani of Class 10.
