At Atmiya Vidya Mandir, to expand the horizons of education and learning beyond the classrooms, regular industrial visits have been made an indispensable part, especially in the case of Social Studies and Science. It was on Thursday, the 15th of Feb 2018 when all the eighth standard students were ready for their Industrial Visit. It was such a refreshing environment filled with great enthusiasm.

We were accompanied by our subject-teachers who guided us throughout the journey.

Our first stop was at the Madhi Sugar Factory. It turned out to be quite an insightful learning experience for all of us. Not only did we learn the: inputs – processes – and outputs for making sugar, but we also learnt the true importance of education and the hardships faced by the factory workers. After the educative session, we then had some snacks that included icecreams, jalebis and wafers.

Our next stop was at the museum of “Sardarvallabh Bhai Patel” at Bardoli where we came to know about the interesting and fascinating history about one of the greatest Indian leaders, “Sardar Patel”. We were then served a refreshing cold coco drink.

Thereafter, to revive our energy, we were taken to a restaurant named, “Eater 9” and were served with a fantastic delicious Punjabi meal.

In the afternoon, we visited the Dhanordhar Textile Mill in Surat which was again a wonderful learning experience for all of us. We got introduced to the management techniques of the manufacturing unit and the procedures of their technical and commercial activities. We also learnt how challenging it was to manage and be patient at a factory. We were then served evening snacks and later on we visited their handlooms unit as well.

At the end, we shed off our weariness with some dancing and swimming. We then had a delicious dinner consisting manchurian, dosa and ice-cream.

It was then time to return to school. We may have left the factories, but not its memories. It was a wonderful learning experience for all of us.
