When this year’s prolonged monsoon finally subsided, it was time for probably the most thrilling competition at AVM. Volleyball, one of the most exciting outdoor games had kept the energetic volleyball enthusiasts of AVM waiting for a very long time. And finally, it had arrived bringing with it a lot of joy and excitement.

The much-proclaimed fame of this game was utterly proved by the large number of students eager to participate in the competition and win laurels for their house. However, a total of 12 best players were selected from each house in all the three categories, constituting a total of 144 participants.

These chosen ones then had the privilege to train under the guidance of Ritesh Sir, Naresh Sir and Hitesh Sir. They selflessly devoted themselves in coaching them and providing them tactics and tips about their gameplay. With 10 days of sheer hard work and beating their laziness, numerous smashes and serves, sneaky drops and fearless blocking, trying to perfect their defence and rotation patterns, all the players were now ready to face their rivals with the best of their abilities.

On 13th November 2019, commenced this most awaited tournament. All the houses performed their best to bag victory, and their determination and conviction to give their best left the audience dumb-stricken. The movement of the ball between courts like a ricocheting bullet was a sight for sore eyes.

This year’s volleyball competition was truly the most memorable tournament, and an apt display of the true spirit of ‘We Are One’ and Atmiyata.
