CBSE Cluster Skating Tournament 2015-16: Stellar Performances & Relentless Spirits!

AVM skaters were quite eager about the West Zone CBSE Skating Tournament which kicked off on 3rd November 2015 with a grand opening ceremony at Tapti Valley International School, Surat. The races started on 4th November at 5:00 am. The races were scheduled such that the Inline category races were after the Quad category races. The 4th of November had only the Time Trial event scheduled for that day.

Our skaters were very confident and ready to face the challenges. Krishivbhai had his first race. He was a bit nervous but finished it confidently. Sadly, he missed the target. The next race was participated in by Shreemadbhai who was at his best but missed the medal by a slim margin. Krishbhai from grade 8 had a wonderful start but could not have a satisfactory finish.

The sun rose on the next day and charged up the contestants with new determination and enthusiasm. Praneshbhai had his first race at 5:00am where he lost by just a matter of a few seconds. 5th November was scheduled for the 500m races. Krishbhai performed well but failed. Then Krishivbhai participated in the 500m race giving his best performance but failed. On the other hand, Shreemadbhai managed to make it to the semi-finals but not to the finals. Praneshbhai made it to the finals but could not grab a medal.

The last and the final day of 6th November was scheduled for the 1000m races. The first race was of Krishivbhai but fortune did not support him again. Adityabhai had his race after Krishivbhai. He made an impressive start but only towards an abrupt end. Then, Ronakbhai gave his best performance but could not secure his place in the semi-finals. Last race was run by Devangbhai who gave a very impressive performance which came to an abrupt end due to a fall.

Unfortunately, no one from our school could win but everyone gave their best performances. Shreemadbhai & Praneshbhai performed extremely well and tried their best to grab a medal. These unrelenting performances and efforts would not be possible without the tireless efforts of our dear Mitesh Sir who made us practice day & night without fail. All of them did lose the tournament, but still won by winning the hearts of the spectators over there by performing extremely well.

The athletes did not feel sad on losing the competition as they had a good sportsman spirit and had given their best. They believed that “Winning is not everything, but participation and the will to win is everything”.
