Along with great celebrations, Atmiya Vidya Mandir organized the second Inter House Sports Competition, for Basketball, with the efforts of all Sports Teachers in the month of July. It began on 18th July 2017 and ended on 25th July 2017. This competition demonstrated the real zeal of the students for their respective houses.

The event brought out the competitive spirit in the students. The competition had two knockout matches for each house. The winners of the first knockout match in each category would shake hands in the final, whereas the losing teams would meet for a third-place match.

There was a lot of cheering by the spectators for their houses since it is always exciting to watch friends play and compete against each other. The atmosphere was electric with the cheers of the students and the enthusiasm of the participants.

On Tuesday, the 18th of July, the first match of the tournament was played between Sundaram House and Shivam House in the SubJunior group. Shivam House won the match by 02-10 points. Second match was played between Sundaram House and Suhradam House in the Junior group. Suhradam House won the match by 20-25 points. The last game of the day, the third match was played between Suhradam House and Satyam House in the Senior group in which Satyam House won by 20-37 points.

Thereafter, on Wednesday, 19th July 2017, the first match was played between Satyam House and Suhradam House in the SubJunior group’s second match. Suhradam won the match by 10-16 points. Second match was Satyam House vs Shivam House in the Junior group. Satyam House won the match by 24-16 points. The last game of the day was Sundaram House vs Shivam House in the Senior group. Sundaram House won the match by 26-11 points.

On Thursday, 20th July 2017, first match was Satyam House vs Sundaram House in the SubJunior group’s third place match. The Sundaram House won the match by 12-22 points. Second match was Shivam House vs Sundaram House in the Junior group’s third place match in which Shivam House won by 16-07 points. The last game of the day was Suhradam House vs Shivam House in the Senior group’s third place match. Shivam House again won the match by 04-14 points.

Then, on, Monday, 24th July 2017 two final matches were held, for the SubJunior and Junior groups.

The first final match was played between Shivam House and Suhradam House in the SubJunior group. Shivam House won this final match by 19-08 points.

The second final match was Satyam House vs Suhradam House in the Junior group. Suhradam House players were outstanding in their play for the final match and eventually they won by 07-28 points.

On the concluding day of the tournament, Tuesday, 25th July 2017, the last match of the tournament was played. It was the third final of the tournament, between Satyam House and Sundaram House in the senior group. Sundaram House players played very nicely, notably, Nisarg Bhai, Shivam Bhai and Smit Bhai Padmani. Eventually, Sundaram House won the final match by 21-29 points.

During the tournament, the referee’s judgments were very transparent and decisive. Ishvar Sir, Ritesh Sir, Jignesh Sir and Bankim Sir were the referees for the tournament. Devang Sir, Tejas Sir and Hemant Sir did their job of scoring fairly with full dedication and zeal.

At last, in the closing ceremony of the tournament, Ishwar Sir and Bankim Sir gave the winning trophy to the Satyam House SubJunior, Junior and Senior group captains.

The games were exhilarating and everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the event. It represented what we learn at AVM, the value of “We Are One”. And the spirit of true sportsmanship!
