Following the student council elections held on June 20, the tempo set in and excitement was at its peak for the results. Soon the preparations for investiture ceremony began. It got inevitably delayed by a week due to the inconvenience caused by heavy rain in the last week of June!

The much awaited event eventually arrived on Saturday, 4th July. The Investiture Ceremony was organized in the school prayer hall. The purpose of this grand event was investing duties and responsibilities on to our newly elected candidates and officially proclaim them as student council members. Student council is a group of students who strive to serve their peers and follow an ideal conduct as a student. All these members are the pillars of the school as they promote the value of “ATMIYATA”. The student council consists of a Head Boy, Vice Head Boy, Sports Captain, House Captains and Vice-Captains and various House Perfects.

The hosts of the programme Sohambhai and Kisanbhai of 11th Science added much charm to the entire programme. First of all, as per school’s tradition, God’s blessings were invoked through the poojan of Thakorji. The group of student council members were lined up and dressed smartly to maintain the decorum of this formal event. When their names were called in, they marched towards the stage with the tune of the school band which added much enthusiasm to the event. The marching signified synergy and coordination amongst them. Then all the four house conveners and teachers were called on the stage to pin the badges to the respective House Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects.

It preceded the swearing-in ceremony, for which the principal of the school, respected Vijay Sir, was invited on the stage. He administered the oath of honour and dedication to the members of student council. Donning the mantle of responsibility, they also pledged to dispense their duties sincerely and abide by the rules and regulations of the school.

After the oath taking ceremony, the Head Boy, Vice Head Boy & Sports Captain lit the ceremonial lamp.  Then, the Head Boy of the school, Manavbhai Patel delivered an impressive speech conveying his commitment and sense of responsibility in order to maintain the pride and glory of the school.

On this eventful day, the AVM family fortunately got a chance to receive the blessings of Pujya Harisharan Swamiji, who presided over the function as chief guest. The thought provoking and extremely inspiring speech of Pujya Harisharan Swamiji not only conveyed the duties of the office bearers but also explained quite convincingly the dos and don’ts of an AVM student by using metaphors ‘lion’ and ‘goat’. The ceremony ended with another inspiring speech of Vijay Sir that reminded all the student council members of their duties and responsibilities which were to be performed for their own personal growth and in the best interests of the school.

At the end, Manavbhai, the newly elected head boy, gave the command to all the students to sing the school song with which the investiture ceremony of 2015-16 officially ended. Truly, this event marked the underlying fact that AVM is preparing ‘Tomorrow’s leaders today’.
